The Association has approximately 35 miles of "private" paved roads and is best known for our Lakes: Crystal, Diamond, Mirror, Sapphire, Silver, Ski Lake, and Lake Carolina (the main lake-approximately 240 acre) with two marina pavilions.
Many of our residents enjoy boating, kayaking, and Golf, as well as woodsy feel of our community. Our diverse community includes active duty military, civilian contractors, retirees and a multitude of school age kids.

2025 Roads Project
The CLPOA Board of Directors has worked diligently to set aside reserve funds over the last few years and has approved an approximate $1.5M project to improve Carolina Way & Carolina Lakes Rd this summer. These are our most heavily-trafficked roads, as well as the largest section of roadway, which is how it was determined to be the priority. Maintenance work continues on tertiary roads, with funding falling under the annual operating budget.
This year's project will be coordinated in three phases:
Phase 1: culvert replacements
Phase 2: milling & paving
Phase 3: striping
This is a large project that is expected to take two months. Every effort is being made to minimize impact to our residents, but your cooperation will be necessary.
June 10th culvert work along Carolina Way will begin. Crews will start towards Coachman Way at Fairway Lane and continue towards Wood Run. Each small culvert will take approximately 1 day to remove, replace, and pack with gravel. The larger culverts will be done towards the end of the project and will take approximately 3-5 days each.
Key information:
- Work will take place between 8a-6p, Monday-Friday.
- Culverts will not be patched with asphalt; all of Carolina Way will be milled and paved later this summer.
- 811 (NC No Dig) has marked utility lines, but there is a risk that a service line is unmarked. If lines are hit and a disruption in service happens, please notify the POA office asap.
- Construction timelines are approximate and weather dependent.
- Road closures will be brief, less than 10 minutes at any given time. Roadways will be one-lane-only throughout the project. Delays are expected and drivers should leave for their destination early.
- Slow down and watch for maintenance crews. Adhere to all posted signs and follow instructions that may be given by traffic control. Warn contractors and guests of the project and the expectation that they are to follow signs and reduce speed when necessary.
